This post will show a recent work of mine framed. All oil pastel paintings must be framed due to the reason they never dry. A smudge or dust build up can destroy an awesome piece of work in a few weeks.
Although necessary and an artistic accessory to a painting, the process of doing so can be tedious and boring. By no means is it hard to do, but measuring, taping, cutting, using an electric screw gun, mounting work to mat, etc etc consumes time. I’d recommend people to bring their work to a frame shop. Although easy, professional framers can be pricey (not to mention time–1 to 2 weeks to receive picture back).
Because of this, I do offer my services to frame my own work. This is not the case in online purchases as shipping is more exspensive and risky. All of my work, however, is double matted to acid free, professional mat boards with a foam board backing. Most times one can just drop in a frame they purchase on their own.
As I said, a frame, even a plain black one as shown, adds depth, character, and an even finished beauty to the work.
What I have below is a 10x12in frame and 8x10in double mat containing a 5x7in painting. Looks pretty good, huh?
The painting is for a friend. Untitled.
